Step into the Middle Ages for a day

Join us on June 13, 2026 in Doesburg!
From 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM, the city comes alive with hundreds of participants in medieval attire. Enjoy street theatre, music, food, traditional crafts, livestock, market stalls, and countless medieval scenes.

For children
There is plenty to do for children at the market next to St. Martin’s Church. Under supervision, they can enjoy the carousel, play medieval games, be knighted by Baroen, or take part in a rat scavenger hunt through the city.
Children are encouraged to come dressed as princesses, knights, beggars, or witches. Costumes are also available at the clothing rental.

St. Martin’s Meal

A beloved tradition attracting visitors from across the country. In St. Martin’s Church, guests are served field soup, bread, and melon.
While dining, visitors can enjoy performances by various music and dance groups.
Since 1982, this meal has grown into an annual tradition. Admission is free; voluntary contributions are welcome upon leaving the church.

In 2025, no less than 650 litres of soup were served.

Dedicated to Hans, the Saint Martin of Doesburg

For Hans,

To many, he was Saint Martin. To us, he is above all a dear friend. A man who brings people together. Someone who sees what is needed and gives without expecting anything in return.

As a sign of our gratitude, we had the honour of pinning a Templar badge onto Hans’s cloak. A small gesture for someone who has been a light to so many for so many years.

This was his final year as Saint Martin. Yet the traces he has left behind in Doesburg remain visible in the many lives he has touched.

A simple “thank you” does not truly cover it. For Saint Martin does not cease to exist when the cloak is set aside; you carry it with you always…
