Montfort

COME AND EXPERIENCE TWO DAYS OF HISTORICAL SPECTACLE AT AND AROUND CASTLE MONTFORT

Swords clash, trumpets sound, and cannons thunder: on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July 2026, Castle Montfort returns to the age of knights, ladies, and battlefields during the largest medieval spectacle in the south of the Netherlands. The tenth edition of Middeleeuws Montfort is not only bigger, but more diverse than ever before — making it a wonderful outing for young and old alike.

Montfort 2

The Largest Festival in the South of the Netherlands

Middeleeuws Montfort has existed since 1998 and has grown over the years into the largest medieval festival in the southern Netherlands. We warmly invite you to enjoy a day of historical experience at and around the impressive Castle Montfort, dating back to the thirteenth century.

The event takes place on both 18 and 19 July, from 11:00 to 18:00, at and around Castle Montfort, Huysdijk 4, Montfort (near Roermond). Free parking is available on site — simply follow the signs.

Knightly Tournaments and Battlefields
Be transported back to the Middle Ages and experience a weekend full of action. Meet over 400 medieval characters in authentic attire, enjoy atmospheric musical performances, traditional craft demonstrations, and a heroic mounted knightly tournament.

A spectacular highlight: an impressive battlefield reenactment with dozens of knights and real cannons — as if you are standing in the midst of the battle itself.

Adventure for Young Knights and Ladies
There is plenty for children to experience as well. They can engage in combat with real knights during the legendary kiddy battle, take part in a historical games parcours, or create their own family coat of arms.

There are also entertaining performances for them, and the knight school of weapons master Baroen — a must for young heroes — returns once again. As does the pony course, where young knights and ladies can test their riding skills.

For the third time, our Order is present at this festival, where we gladly reunite with our German brothers of the Order of Gemerthe. A familiar meeting, reflected in the photographs from previous years.
