In the Middle Ages, everything was far more symbolic than it is today. White is the colour of Christ when He triumphs. Not as a king clothed in gold and splendour\u2026 but as the Light appearing in the darkest night. At Christmas, white shines in the birth of Christ.<br\/>At Easter, it bursts forth in the Resurrection.<br\/>For Bernard of Clairvaux, white was not merely \u201cbeautiful\u201d or \u201cneat.\u201d It was the colour of a soul turned toward God without mask or ornament. That is why the Cistercians \u2014 and later also the first Knights Templar beneath their mantles \u2014 wore simple light garments. No splendour. No vanity. The colour of fire. The colour of the Holy Spirit who sets people in motion = the colour of Pentecost.<br\/>But also the colour of blood. Of martyrs. Of people who remained faithful even when it became difficult.      <br><br>Bernard often spoke of a faith that exists not only in words, but becomes visible through actions. Love that costs something. Red is therefore not the colour of aggression or power, but of passionate devotion.<br\/>Like a candle consuming itself in order to give light \ud83d\udd6f\ufe0f   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-481b5b3 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"481b5b3\" silence, depth, and exaltation<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6b9da62 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" heart.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bff1194 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" Purple belongs to Advent and Lent \u2014 seasons of preparation.<br\/>Not to make oneself small out of fear\u2026 but to make room for God.  <br><br>Bernard loved silence. Not as emptiness, but as a place where a person becomes honest with themselves again.<br\/>Purple is therefore not a gloomy colour. It is the colour of slowing down. Less noise, fewer distractions, learning once again to listen.<br\/>It says:<br\/>\u201cMake your heart ready.\u201d<br\/>   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b46fa0 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"4b46fa0\" Pink<\/p><p>Used only very sparingly:<br\/>\u2022 Third Sunday of Advent (Gaudete) <br\/>\u2022 Fourth Sunday of Lent (Laetare) <br\/>Pink means:<br\/>\u201cJoy is already beginning to dawn in the It could seem as though heaven itself briefly broke through into the earth.   <br><br>Bernard warned against excess and vanity.
