Welcome to our website, where you enter the world of the Templars. <\/p>

We are pleased that you are here and gladly share the history, meanings and spirit of our Order..<\/p>

We are a Templar Order in the Netherlands. We are the Dutch house of the Order:
The Black Knights Templars Of Solomon.
We belong to the Scandinavian Order, also referred to as \u201cthe Main.\u201d
Under this structure fall Sweden (head seat), Norway, Denmark and Germany.
Belgium is currently in formation. <\/p>

We are Christians and serve our God, Christ and all His saints according to the spirit of the Templar Rule.<\/p>

Within the tradition of the Order the following virtues are emphasized:<\/p>

Together these virtues form the Templar Code which we strive to uphold.<\/p>

The Order was founded around the year 1118 in Jerusalem by Hugues de Payens and Godfrey of Saint-Omer, together with seven fellow nobles.<\/p>

Their way of life found its foundation in the Latin Rule of the Templars, consisting of 72 articles, established under the leadership of Hugues de Payens and confirmed during the Council of Troyes on January 13, 1129, under the spiritual guidance of Bernard of Clairvaux.<\/p>

To this day this rule forms the heart of the Templar ideal:
devotion, discipline and service.<\/p>

Members are expected to apply these principles in their lives as faithfully as possible.<\/p>

First we address all those who despise the worldly life and wish to renounce their own will, and who desire to serve the highest King in the knightly vocation with a pure heart.<\/span><\/p>

Those who choose this path seek to follow the holy and exalted knightly Order and to gird themselves with the noble armour of obedience.<\/span><\/p>

Therefore we exhort you who until now have been worldly knights, who did not always fight for the sake of Christ but for honour or earthly reward. We call upon you to join those whom God has chosen as His holy host. <\/span><\/p>

With great care and fervent devotion, everyone who feels this calling must join this holy brotherhood and dedicate themselves to the service of the Church.<\/span><\/p>

For when someone chooses this holy vocation with a sincere heart and binds himself to it, he must hold fast with perseverance and pure devotion to the covenant he has accepted.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In essence this means:<\/p>

  • \u2022 The Rule is intended for those who reject the world<\/li>
  • \u2022 and desire to serve God as knights<\/li>
  • \u2022 through obedience and discipline<\/li>
  • \u2022 and by entering the militia of Christ<\/li><\/ul>

    It is, in essence, a call to a holy knightly vocation.<\/p>

    The name Templar evokes images of knights, crusades and mystery.
    Yet behind these images lies a history that is often misunderstood.<\/p>

    The Templars were not ordinary knights.
    Their origin lies in a unique combination of monastic life and knightly service.<\/p>

    Their Rule, written in the twelfth century, clearly reflects the spirit of the great reformer Bernard of Clairvaux: obedience, self-denial and devotion to a higher purpose.<\/p>

    On this website we seek to present the story of the Templars anew \u2014 calmly, carefully and as faithfully as possible to the historical sources.<\/p>
