How so?<br>Knights were rich. They were nobles, of high birth, with castles, lands, and servants. So how are they \u201cpoor\u201d?    <br>Because upon entering, they had to give up everything. Land, title, weapons, wealth\u2014even their seal. They took a vow of poverty. Not because they had to, but because they chose to.   <\/p><p>They lived under a vow of poverty like monks.<br>Everything became common property of the Order, as in a monastery.<br>They were both warrior and monk. They lived with sword and prayer. They gave up their power to become servants.   <\/p><p>At entry, this meant:<\/p><p>Renouncing personal possessions<br>Renouncing one\u2019s own will<br>Living in obedience<br>Living in chastity<br>No private property, no private agenda<\/p><p>Not poverty as lack, but as a voluntary choice. Not poor because we had nothing, but because we chose to possess nothing.<br>Templars could be noble, wealthy, trained, and armed. Upon entry, everything was laid down. Everything that was \u201cmine\u201d ceased to exist.<br>Not only material things such as money, house, goods\u2014but also: honor, fame, authority, future plans\u2014your own will.<br>To modern eyes: incomprehensible.    <\/p><p>This is more radical than material poverty.<br>A Templar does not decide where he goes.<br>Does not choose his task.<br>He does not even choose his death.   <\/p><p><strong>Pauperes is also a spiritual state<\/strong><\/p><p>We are not powerful, even if we bear arms.<br>We are not free, even if we ride on horseback. <\/p><p>The paradox is this:<br>We Templars were militarily extremely efficient\u2014financially highly organized and internationally very influential.<br>And yet: personally poorer than most monks.<\/p><p>This tension is the Order.<br>Without Pauperes, we would be a simple elite corps, or just another knightly brotherhood.<br>With Pauperes, we are a vowed community\u2014an offering.<br>That is our calling.<br> <\/p><p>Commilitonium = fellow-soldiers<br>The Latin reveals it: Pauperes Commilitones Christi.<br>Milites = soldiers<br>Commilitones = fellow-soldiers \/ brothers-in-arms<br>This means: not alone, not autonomous, not acting independently.  <\/p><p>A commilito exists only in relation to others.<br><br>Who are they \u201cwith\u201d?<br>1) With Christ Himself \u2013 this is the core<br>Templars are not soldiers for Christ, but with Christ.<br>Christ is not a spectator, but the first Warrior\u2014the victorious Christ: Christus Victor.<\/p><p><strong>We do not go ahead of Him.<br>We join Him. <\/strong><\/p><p>2) With each other \u2013 as a community<br>No individual knights on personal quests for glory.  <br>No private property, no personal honor, no individual mission.<br>Everything is shared, obedient, communal.<br>A fellow-soldier means: your sword is never yours alone.  <\/p><p>3) With the Church<br>A layer often forgotten.<br>Templars are Commilitones Christi within the body of the Church.<br>Not above it, not beside it.<br>Therefore: obedience to the Rule, recognition by pope and council, and no independent theology.    <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-38435c5 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"38435c5\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3619eb4 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3619eb4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p> <\/p><p>We fight within the body of the Church, not outside it.<\/p><ul><li>4) With the saints before them<br>We are fellow fighters with: <\/li><li>the Apostles<\/li><li>the Martyrs<\/li><li>the early monks<\/li><li>Solomon as builder of the Holy<\/li><\/ul><p>A battle that was already going on before them.<\/p><p>Without \u201cwith\u201d, we would be independent mercenaries.<br>Heroes with crosses but without substance. Above all. Eternal.<br>  <\/p><p>\u201cSoldiers of Christ\u201d tells you what you fight for.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Templique Salomonici = Temple of Solomon<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>Why \u201cof Christ and of the Temple of Solomon\u201d? Why not only of Christ? <\/p><ul><li>Because there were already orders calling themselves soldiers of Christ\u2014crusaders, armed pilgrims, knightly brotherhoods. That was nothing new. Temporary. Purely military. Replaceable.  <\/li><li>By adding Templiques Salomonici, something fundamental happens.<br>Templars do not just say: we serve Christ.<br>They say: we serve Christ along a specific Holy axis.<br>Christ is our Lord.<br>The Temple is our mission.  <\/li><li> <\/li><\/ul><p>Christ + Temple = incarnation.<br>Christ is the Word. The Temple is the Body.<br>Faith stands somewhere\u2014and must be guarded.<br>Without the Temple, there is no anchor, no mission, no boundary.<br>The Temple is where Heaven and Earth meet.<br>Templars understood: we are not of the city\u2014we are of the Temple.    <\/p><p>The Temple was:<br>Biblically untouchable\u2014older than Rome\u2014older than the Latin Kingdom\u2014older than any king. <br>Thus, the Temple of Solomon was not just a building.<br>It places us above every worldly power\u2014directly under God.  <\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">3) Why not Jerisalem, Hierosolyma? It is a theological statement.<br>The Temple did not disappear when the building disappeared.<br>This is the moment that Christ Himself becomes the Temple.   <\/p><p> <\/p><p>\u201cDestroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.\u201d <br>(John 2:19)<br>Jesus did not refer to the physical temple in Jerusalem, but to the temple of His own body. <\/p><p>\ud83d\udc49 The physical Temple dies<br>\ud83d\udc49 The idea of the Temple lives on\u2014transferred into Christ, the Church, the heart of the believer<br>The Temple moves, but does not vanish.<br>The Holy is not gone\u2014it is simply no longer visible.
