Ponferrada est la derni\u00e8re grande ville sur la route de p\u00e8lerinage vers Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque romaine, l\u2019or \u00e9tait extrait dans les environs de Ponferrada, voir Las M\u00e9dulas.
